The family of Alexandra Kogut, 18, New Hartford has made funeral arrangements for their slain daughter who police say died at the hands of her boyfriend in her college dorm room at SUNY Brockport.
The funeral will be on Thursday at noon at St. John the Evangelist Church, New Hartford where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours are on Wednesday from 4-8 PM at the Dimbleby, Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral Home, 13 Oxford Rd., New Hartford.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to New Hartford Central School District, Attn: Kim Hibbard, 29 Oxford Rd., New Hartford, NY 13413 to establish an Alexandra Kogut memorial award.
In her obituary Kogut's family said, "her legacy to us is one of kindness and gentleness."
Both the victim, 18 year old Alexandra Kogut and her accused killer, 21 year old Clayton Whittemore attended New Hartford high before going their separate ways. Kogut was enrolled as a freshman at Brockport, while Whittemore attends Utica College.
