With Orange Madness just one week away at the Carrier Dome, the SU Basketball team may be losing one of it's marque games of the upcoming season. The "Battle on the Midway", which was slated to be a matchup between SU and San Diego State played on board the USS Midway on November 9th, is in danger of being cancelled according to the San Diego Union-Tribune. The game is being threatened because of lack of a national sponsor, but a final decision is expected in the next couple of days.
"We're in discussions with the schools and we're optimistic we can find a solution," said Fox Sports spokesman Chris Bellitti, "We still want to produce and televise the game on the Midway as planned."
The Post Standard's Mike Waters is reporting that a source has told him that a "positive development" is expected to be announced soon. The source expressed confidence that the game would be played.
