SYRACUSE -- The Onondaga Emergency Management Operations Center has been monitoring Hurricane Sandy since Thursday Evening.

They have been participating in daily conference calls with New York State Emergency Management and the National Weather Service.

During their most recent phone call with the National Weather Service, they were told Central New York will sustain the strongest winds between the hours of 11pm and 2am.

At this point, the Emergency Operations Center is purely operational. If the weather conditions become more severe, they will activate the center and bring in more staff and resources.

However, Onondaga's Emergency Operations Commissioner, Kevin Wisely, does not believe they will have to activate the center during the course of this storm.
