CICERO -- New York State Police say they executed a search warrant at 7856 MacArthur Street, in the Town of Cicero, and found 116 cartons of assorted Native brand untaxed cigarettes and approximately $27,000 in cash.
Police say the warrant was executed after a month long investigation into the possession and distribution of untaxed cigarettes in Central New York.
Police arrested Linda R. Clarkson, 54, and Thomas J. Zawacki, 58. They both reside at the MacArthur Street residence.
Investigators say they were involved in an ongoing operation to purchase large amounts of untaxed cigarettes and resell them to individuals for profit while evading taxes.
Clarkson and Zawacki are charged with possession or sale of unstamped cigarettes, a felony, and criminal tax fraud, a misdemeanor. They were issued appearance tickets for the Town of Cicero Court on November 13 and released.
