ALBANY (AP) -- Parts of eastern New York could get as much as 6 inches of snow courtesy of a potential nor'easter making its way up the Atlantic Coast.

The National Weather Service says 1 to 4 inches is forecast for sections of the Hudson Valley, while other eastern areas are expected to get snow showers with little or no accumulation.

The National Weather Service says 2 to 6 inches is forecast for Ulster, Dutchess and Columbia counties in the Hudson Valley, with 4 to 8 inches possible in the hills and mountains. Other eastern and central areas are expected to get snow showers with little or no accumulation.

Forecasters say the final snow totals for the mid-Hudson Valley depend on the track of the storm and how far inland the storm front travels. Snow is expected to begin falling late Wednesday afternoon and continue into Thursday morning before changing to rain and clearing by Friday. Weekend temperatures are expected to top 50 degrees.

Some major airlines are scrapping flights in and out of the New York area ahead of the second significant storm in little more than a week.
