ALBANY (AP) -- A puppy whose leg had been sawed off by an abuser has been fitted with a prosthetic limb and his vet says he's doing fine.

The Times Union of Albany reports that the 3-month-old pit bull mix named Hudson got the device on Monday. It features a waterproof rubber sole with treads for grip.

Hudson was one of three siblings found abused and abandoned on railroad tracks in Albany in September. The others had holes punctured in the paws and one was so badly injured and malnourished it had to be euthanized.

Now Hudson and his sister Pearl, named for Albany streets near where they were found, are about to get a new home thanks to the Mohawk and Hudson River Humane Society.
