LAFAYETTE -- Onondaga County Sheriff's detectives are investigating what they are calling a "suspicious" death in the Town of Lafayette.
Sheriff Kevin Walsh says the body of an unidentified woman was discovered in a ravine on the 2900 block of Webb Road around 4:00 Monday morning. Deputies responded to a phone call but the Sheriff's office has not revealed who the caller was or how the body was discovered
Webb Road is currently blocked off while police investigate the area. Deputies say detectives are currently working with the Onondaga County Medical Examiner's Office to identify the remains.
On Monday afternoon, investigators were using rakes and shovels to clear out leaves from an area surrounded with police tape.
Detectives are working with the Onondaga County Medical Examiner's office. A statement from the Sheriff's office says additional information will be released as it is developed.
