Christmas Bureau registration begins Monday

SYRACUSE -- The Salvation Army will begin taking registrations Monday for its annual Christmas Bureau.   You must register between December 1st and 17th in order to take part in the distribution of toys, books, stocking stuffer grabs bags and holiday food baskets on December 23rd. Only  those pre-registered will be able to take part.

Families residing in Onondaga County of two or more, with an adult and a child 16 years of age or younger, are eligible to receive a food basket containing a turkey for a holiday meal and other canned, boxed and fresh food products.  Toys and books are provided for children birth through 13 years of age.  A gift item and a book are available for youth ages 14 –16 . All families must register.

DOCUMENTATION NEEDED FOR REGISTRATION

Families receiving Temporary Assistance Benefits from the  Department of Social Services will receive a “Benefits        Summary Sheet” that will provide all of the information needed to register for the Christmas Bureau.  The sheet will be mailed to their home and save time and effort!   Recipients must bring the Benefit Summary Sheet and personal ID with them to the registration site.

The income guidelines are based on the 2008 Federal Poverty Guidelines for 200% of poverty (see table below)
