TULLY -- A couple from Tully has been cleared of the charges against them. The Onondaga County District Attorney says he won't prosecute Jeff and Kandice Keyes. They had been charged with unlawfully dealing with a minor and endangering the welfare of a child because police thought they gave alcohol to teens.
Tuesday night, a judge agreed with the D.A. and the defense attorney. He declared all the charges were dropped. The judge agreed there was no evidence the Keyes gave alcohol to teens during their daughter's birthday party. Jeff and Kandice are both stunned they were ever charged
"I have a career in education and have devoted the last 20 years to working with kids, especially teenagers," Kandice said, "I've known these kids for years and I've never had a problem. They're very polite people, they clean up after their parties and I'm just shocked at the whole thing."
Jeff said, "We're relieved that we're past this next step. We're confused because we still don't know why this happened. And we're angry because the state police were incompetent."
Calls to the State Police for a response were not returned Tuesday night.
Kandice Keyes says the teens who were involved with bringing alcohol to the party were not close friends of their daughter.
Charges are still being pursued against other people involved in the case.
