Stocking up for the Super Bowl

It's what is what the day before the Super Bowl looks like: People out at grocery stores stocking up on all of the staples like chips, soda, and beer. Mike Jaworski filled his cart up with lots of goodies during a trip to Wegmans on Saturday.

"I bought all this alone," Jaworski said. "Had my wife come out it would have looked really different or if she was with me I wouldn't have bought all of this."

Shopping for Super Bowl snacks is a ritual. The only game changer this year is the economy. But shoppers say it's not impacting what their doing, at least for this occasion.

"It's really not at this point, maybe discouragement has me buying more I don't know," Jaworski said.

One difference this year according to the folks at Wegmans, as people stock up for their Super Bowl parties, they are buying healthier snacks like vegetable trays.

"The store has been exceptionally busy with people really trying to prepare for the Super Bowl tomorrow," Evelyn Carter, consumer affairs manager for Wegmans, said.

There's also the pizza and whatever favorite recipes people whip up for this weekend. Hank Chapman didn't forget the special plates and the reason why he's shopping on such a busy shopping day.

We've had a party, it's my 25th annual, and we have a few dozen people come and lots of food and watch the game and have lots of fun," Chapman said.

It's that excitement that's keeping shoppers going, even if they wait in line a little longer.
