SYRACUSE -- SUNY Upstate Medical Center is teaching kids that jobs still exist in this economy. Tuesday they held a conference, like a career fair, for over 250 Syracuse city schoolchildren. The aim was to help them learn more about health care careers. They asked the professionals many questions. The students heard good news straight from many professionals, like nurses, that jobs are still being filled despite the setbacks in the economy.
The students asked questions like what kinds of courses they'll take once they are in a nursing program, what kinds of experiences they will have in a hospital setting with patients. They are interested in how much money they will make and whether they will have a job in the future. It was obvious that they are aware of what is happening in our community and our nation.
