SYRACUSE -- Action News has been receiving emails about why the City of Syracuse is not listed on the stimulus watch list. A website called "Stimulus Watch" is keeping tabs on the projects for New York State. We checked with Mayor Driscoll's office, who told us that they apparently did not see the request for information from the U.S. Conference of Mayors for this site. However, we are told that City Hall has submitted proposals to both the state and federal governments since January. We are expecting to receive a copy of the list, and will post it here at CNYcentral.com as soon as we get it.
Regionally, several road projects will be receiving funding from the federal government. The money will be coming from the recently enacted economic stimulus package.
The stimulus money will cover:
- Replacement of the Bartell Road bridge over Interstate 81 in Cicero.
- Resurfacing of Interstate 690 in Syracuse.
- Resurfacing of State Routes 5A and 69 in Oneida County.
There will also be various bridge repairs in Oneida County and culvert repairs in Jefferson County.
