ROCHESTER (AP) -- A Rochester-area man is scheduled to go on trial for allegedly causing the death of a man by punching him after a softball game.
Sean Sanders' non-jury trial for criminally negligent homicide is set to begin Monday in Monroe County Court.
The 28-year-old Irondequoit resident is accused of punching Dan Andrews Jr. of Hilton in the back of the head after a recreational league game last summer. Andrews died the next day from brain damage.
Sanders has waived his right to a jury trial and will have his case tried by a judge.
Andrews, a father of three, was punched when the two teams brawled after a game June 29 at a softball field in Parma, just northwest of Rochester.
Sanders fled the scene but was captured several hours later.
