You know it's interesting times when the newspaper business is front page news in newspapers. Experts say we're witnessing some challenging times - and a changing model for future journalism.
After seeing his hometown paper, the Boston Globe, threaten to close, Senator John Kerry announced the Senate Commerce Committee would hold hearings on the financial problems facing the newspaper industry, an industry that has been forced to play out it's difficulties very openly.
David Tyler says Syracuse-based Eagle Newspapers have been holding up well. He, also, says the problems facing newspapers may be overstated and are directly related to the recent economic downturn that has touched every business in some way.
Muck like the automobile industry, LeMoyne College Professor, Ann Allen, thinks the newspaper industry will have to adapt if they want to thrive during these changing times.
David Tyler and many industry experts predict that newspaper websites will eventually require users to pay for some or all web content in order to stay in business.
