AUBURN -- A priest with ties to Central New York is facing allegations of sexual abuse of a minor.
Allegations against Reverend Conrad Sundholm date back to the mid-1970s. Tuesday, the Catholic Diocese of Rochester called the allegations ‘credible’, and Sundholm’s priestly faculties were withdrawn. This means that he can no longer minister publicly.
According to the Diocese, Sundholm was ordained in 1955. He was the pastor at St. Salome's Church in Irondequoit when the abuse allegedly happened. He also served locally at St. Mary's in Auburn from 1965 to 1971, and at Holy Family/St. Aloysius in Auburn from 1982 to 1999.
Sundholm retired in 1999 and is currently living in Florida.
The Diocese of Rochester tells Action News that they are urging alleged victims to contact police and the diocese. To report a case of possible sexual abuse and to receive help and guidance from the Diocese, victims are encouraged to contact the victims’ assistance coordinator at 585-328-3228, ext. 1215 (or toll-free 1-800-388-7177, ext. 1215), or by e-mail to pedeville@dor.org.
