High school bands will get more showcases
Ten high school bands competed for top honors at the Battle of the Bands...and this year the winners get much more than bragging rights.
The Jewish Community Center of Syracuse, which hosts the annual event, is opening The SPOT, a teen center in Shoppingtown Mall--and the top three bands will be featured in a music showcase there on April 10th. The first place winner also gets a music video shoot, courtesy Redhouse Arts Center, 3 hours of recording time at SUbcat Records, and $200 dollars cash. All the schools represented also get a 'win'--a dollar of ticket prices from supporters go back to that high school.
The winners:
#3: 'Seb' (Bishop Grimes/CBA)
#2: 'Seventeen Comes Sunday' (Cicero-North Syracuse)
#1: 'Potentially Essential' (Onondaga Central School)
