CORTLAND COUNTY -- It's not only the kids who are trying out snowboarding. 59-year-old Jim Garvey thought he'd give it a try.
"Well, it looked like it was fun," Garvey said. "The kids can do it, I don't want to act my age so, here I am."
Labrador Mountain is a little more crowded coming off of Shaun White's gold medal win in the Olympics.
"Shaun White, I love him, that new trick he made up, it was sick," Nate Carella said.
"Was that guy incredible," Garvey added. "Like 40 feet in the air? If I go 40 feet in the air, it will be a mistake, no if I got two inches in the air it will be a mistake."
Some thought snowboarding would just turn out to be a fad, but at Labrador the interest is flying high.
"It was a slow start in the beginning of the season but with the Olympics going on and Shaun White winning the half pipe, it's starting to pick up," said Rick Bunnell, Director of Marketing and Snow Sports at Labrador.
Snowboarders get many lessons watching the Olympics.
"That if you try a lot, you can accomplish a lot in whatever you do," Carella said
