The Sweet 16 is getting the headlines, but film fans from all over the world will also be in Syracuse this weekend, for Cinefest.
Coordinator Gerry Orlando says the Thursday - Sunday event will show nearly 40 silent and early movies, as well as short subjects.
It's based at the Holiday Inn, Electronics Parkway but excursions include a trip to Rome's Capitol theatre for a 35mm screening.
The draw, says Orlando, is that the archival motion pictures are not found on dvds---many are one of a kind print, not seen publicly in decades. The 'silents' will have live piano accompaniment, and dealer rooms and a memorabilia auction are also annual highlights.
