WEEDSPORT (AP) -- The eastbound lanes of the Thruway in Central New York have been reopened after being shut down for more than five hours by a tractor-trailer crash.
Sgt. Mike Kopp of the Thruway detail says the truck was traveling east on Interstate 90 when it apparently struck barriers in a construction zone and tipped over around 3:30 a.m. Wednesday. The truck blocked both lanes between the on- and off-ramps at Exit 40 in Cayuga County, 20 miles west of Syracuse.
Police say the driver suffered minor injuries.
Eastbound traffic was directed off the highway at Exit 40 and detoured to Exit 39 via local roads. The eastbound lanes reopened around 9 a.m.
Police say the truck was hauling a load of aluminum soda can tops.
