An Independence Day Celebration in Baldwinsville tonight was marred by tragedy.
64-year-old Steven Rathburn of Liverpool died tonight in a possible drowning.
Police say Rathburn was swimming behind a boat in the Seneca River when witnesses noticed his head was under water.
They pulled him out of the water and called 911.
Police gave him CPR and transported him to St. Joseph's Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
Police say they do not know if drowning was the cause of death. They also do not know if alcohol was involved.
Thousands had lined the streets along the river to celebrate the Fourth of July weekend with music and fireworks.
