Temperatures hit the 90s on Monday, and that had many Central New Yorkers looking for ways to beat the heat. Jamesville Beach was busy throughout the day. Cindy Williams said it was the perfect day to use a free pass she received. "This is going to be a great day, hot, 90s... so we said, let's take advantage of the ticket and go to Jamesville," says Williams.

The heat is also helping local businesses.  Gannons Isle Ice Cream had a steady stream of customers. Co-owner John Gannon says this Fourth of July weekend was much better than last year's Fourth of July weekend.  He says his business depends on good weather. "The warmer, the better.  It's been great, and it's a holiday weekend on top of it, so the timing's been perfect," says Gannon.

In addition to enjoying the heat, the Center for Disease Control is advising people to stay safe in the heat. The CDC recommends drinking plenty of water, avoiding alcohol, wearing lightweight clothing, and using an air conditioner.  It also recommends checking in on anyone who may be high risk for heat-related illness, including infants, senior citizens, and people with illnesses.
