VERNON, ONEIDA COUNTY -- Vernon Downs says a bill in Albany right now could help double the workforce at the racino.
A measure to allow table games overwhelmingly passed in the Senate, but still needs to get through the Assembly. It would make Vernon Downs a full fledged casino with games like blackjack, roulette, poker, and craps.
Vernon Downs calls the measure a jobs bill, saying the bill would double the amount of jobs at Vernon Downs, and provide a big boost to the local and state economy.
The measure may be in Albany, but it's ultimately up to the voters. If it gets approval from the state Legislature, it would then be put up for a vote across New York. If voters approve it, then it would be on the ballot in Oneida County.
Caitlin Nuclo will have much more on the impact of this bill coming up tonight on NBC3 and CBS5 News.
