We received another notice Wednesday from NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) that they will be holding a press conference this morning to discuss their updated outlook for this hurricane season.

So far, this season has been dramatically different from their initial projection of “well above average.” Chief Meteorologist Wayne Mahar mentioned earlier this week in his story here that only two named storms have occurred so far this year.

As of this writing, that number is up to three with Tropical Storm Colin this week. Colin certainly hasn’t amounted to much, and is currently not much more than a somewhat organized area of showers and storms, lacking a well defined center. This system has shown some slow improvements in organization over the past 24 hours, so it will need to be monitored. You can check for the latest National Hurricane Center updates yourself here.

Judging from our season thus far, we here at the CNYCentral weather team suspect that NOAA will scale-back their prediction for the rest of this season.

With that being said, all it takes is one, well-organized, powerful, and most importantly, properly-located storm to really change our perspective on the 2010 Hurricane season! The NOAA press release is posted below.
