Let's face it, food is just about the most important reason most people attend the Great New York State Fair. In that spirit, the folks at delish.com, a food oriented website have put together their 10 best - the most unusual foods served up at state fairs all across the country.
From deep friend Twinkies at the Indiana state fair, to something totally outrageous like the Krispy Crème Sandwich at the state fair in California. The sandwich is a complete artery-clogger with a fried chicken patty topped with swiss cheese all tucked inside a sliced Krispy Kreme Original Glazed doughnut. At the state fair in Iowa they serve up something touted as comfort food at its finest: the hot beef sundae. It's a generous helping of buttery mashed potatoes surrounded by slow-roasted roast beef and gravy, sprinkled with cheddar cheese, and garnished with a cherry tomato.
None of the treats served at the Great New York State Fair made this list - but surely you have your favorites. Log in and leave a comment below letting us know what treat draws you to the fair!
