SYRACUSE -- Syracuse marked the 9th anniversary of the 9-11 attacks with a simple ceremony this morning at Firefighter's Park on East Fayette Street. As it has every year since the tragedy the ceremony featured no speeches or announcements.  The ceremony consisted of uniformed firefighters and police officers at attention for 17 minutes of silence between 8:46 am and 9:03 am, the times of each plane hitting the World Trade Center Towers.
Two five foot tall pedestals of red cement blocks were erected for the ceremony. On top two special three eick candles were lit to commemorate the lives lost in the attacks on the World Trade Center, the pentagon, and those on Flight 93 that crashed in pennsylvania as passengers tried to regain control of the plane from the hijackers.
