Thursday was a soggy September day from start to finish and one which will go down in the record books. Light rain broke out around 4am, increasing to moderate to heavy rain at times by the afternoon. The intensity of the rain mostly was not at flash flooding levels like you sometimes see during summer thunderstorms. But the relentlessness of the rain eventually proved too much for many local basements, streams, creeks and even roadsides. Reports of even mudslides came in during the evening from the hilly areas south of Onondaga County where coincidently some of the heaviest rain fell.

Here is a breakdown of some of the more impressive rainfall amounts I could gather as of the end of Thursday:

Auburn 3.30”
Barnes Corners 5.00”
Boonville 3.74”
CNY Central studios 2.80”
Dodgeville 2.60”
Oswego 3.50”
Penn Yan 3.96”
Syracuse 2.66” ***Most ever rain in a September day***
Verona Beach 3.30”
Whitesboro 3.08”
Willet 3.85”
