The 4% sales tax on clothing is back in New York.

This weekend, the temporary tax break ended and clothing and shoes priced under $110 is once again taxed at 4%. Previously the 4% tax was only for items over $110.

Most shoppers say they didn't know about the change. Some say they'll be affected by the tax, while others think it's a necessary evil.

Syracuse resident Marissa Sandler says,

"It's going to affect the way I shop. When I shop I'm not going to buy as many things. I don't really support it, I don't think anyone does."

Syracuse resident Marshall Reutlinger has a different take,

"This state's going broke, we're hearing it everyday," Reutlinger says. "But we're hearing we're spending too much money. We're going to end up paying it one way or another."

Storeowners we spoke with didn't think the tax would have any effect on business.

Shoppers will get another tax break in April for clothing items priced under $55.
