Syracuse, N.Y. The Syracuse Police Department has arrested Malcolm Cater, age 19 of 130 Lambreth Lane, Syracuse, N.Y. in connection with three burglaries that occurred on Syracuse University's South campus. Cater is charged with three counts of Burglary in second degree (Class C Felony), one Count of Grand Larceny in the fourth degree ( Class E Felony) and Two counts of Petit larcency ( Class A Misdemenor). On December 11, 2010 at 3:00 am the Syracuse Police Department and Syracuse University Department of Public Safety responded to a report of a suspicious person carrying a large television in to the apartment at 130 Lambreth Lane. When officers responded they followed footprints in the snow that led from an apartment in the 100 block of Farm Acre Road to Cater's apartment on Lambreth Lane. It was then discovered that two burglaries had just occurred on Farm Acre Rd. When officers responded to 130 Lambreth Lane to investigate the burglaries they observed a 42 inch flat screen television that was stolen in one of the burglary. Cater was identified by witnesses as the person in possession of the stolen property. Cater was taken in to custody and transported to the Criminal Investigations Division for further investigation. The investigation revealed that Cater had committed two occupied burglaries in 100 block of Farm Acre Road overnight. Further investigation revealed that Cater was also responsible for a burglary that occurred over Thanksgiving break in the 100 block of Small Road. Officers conducted a search warrant on the residence at 130 Lambreth Lane and have recovered property stolen from the three burglaries. This investigation is still active and ongoing.

Malcolm Cater is scheduled to be arraigned in Syracuse City Court on Sunday December 12, 2010 at 9:00am.
