Stocking up on snow supplies

SYRACUSE -- Shovels, snow blowers and salt.

Those are just a few items that come in handy when dealing with snow storms.  There's been record snowfall this past week and, in turn, the Lowe's in Syracuse has seen a lot more customers -- like Don Cram who was in search of a shovel Sunday.

"My parents like the driveway to be done really well and you can't clear it as well with a snow blower," said Don Cram, Syracuse.  "So the best way to do it is with your back and to shovel."

Lowe's actually sold out of a lot of supplies this past week and had to bring in emergency shipments to restock empty shelves.  But what's the hottest item -- snow shovels or snow blowers?

"It's a little bit of both," said Marty Sincebaugh, of Lowe's.  "Shovels go faster because they are cheaper but  people do go with snow blowers as well."

With so much snow, some people opt for a third option.

"It's easier for me to use the tractor and get it done with one pass as opposed trying to manipulate a little snow blower," said Bob Ridler, Syracuse.

Lowe's says it's fully stocked with winter weather supplies and is ready for the next big snow storm.
