BOONVILLE (AP) -- State police blamed slippery roads for two separate crashes that killed a 65-year-old man in northern New York and a 20-year-old woman south of Albany.

Troopers say Robert Steria of Boonville drifted into the path of an oncoming pickup truck around 7 a.m. Sunday on Route 12 in Boonville, north of Utica. Steria died and the five people in the pickup were taken to a Utica hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

State police say a 20-year-old woman lost control on an icy road in Columbia County around 10:30 a.m. Sunday. She died after she slid into the path of an oncoming car on Route 22 in the town of Austerlitz. Her name was not immediately released. Two people in the other car were seriously injured.
