Deadly small plane crash in Yates County

The pilot of a small plane is dead after a crash in Yates County. Around 7:50PM Wednesday, Yates County Dispatchers got calls from residents in the Town of Barrington that a plane had crashed in the area.
Dispatchers were able to verify that a plane was enroute to the Penn Yan Airport, and had not arrived. According to the Yates County Sheriff's Department, there was freezing rain and a sleeting storm at the time.
Around 8:30PM crews found the wreckage of a Mooney M20 single engine aircraft that was destroyed from crashing head-on into trees.
The Sheriff's Department is identifying the pilot as 56-year-old doctor Michael Lippe from New Jersey. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators say Dr. Lippe was partially ejected and had massive injuries.
According to Yates County Sheriff Spike, Dr. Lippe was scheduled to work at the Finger Lakes Health Geneva Hospital today.
FAA and NTSB investigators will be at the scene of the crash today.
