Former Syracuse University student-athlete Rob Long is halfway through his cancer treatment, and is telling his friends and fans he's feeling great.

Long posted the following on his Twitter account early Monday afternoon: "Getting in to my third week of treatment feeling great and blessed. #staypositive #NFL."

The message "staypositive" has been his mantra throughout this health crisis which was first identified by doctors late in the football season.

Original Story from January 13:

The first round of chemotherapy began on Thursday for Syracuse University punter Rob Long. According to his Twitter page, the treatment is expected to last six weeks.

Long's doctors discovered a brain tumor on December 2nd, and had it removed on December 14th. Malignant cells were discovered in his brain about a week later, but that did not stop Long from being with his team at the Pinstripe Bowl for their win over Kansas State.

Long was on the mind of many of the SU lacrosse players as they attended their first practice today, especially the seniors who know Long best, and how positive he's been through all this.

"He's been strong like that ever since I met him," says SU lacrosse senior Joel White, "he's just a great kid, great personality, and I can't even imagine what he's going through. And just for us to be here is the best thing, and we just want him to know that we're all here for him."

"It's gonna be a battle for him," says SU senior goalie John Galloway, "but if anybody can beat it it's Rob. He talk to him as much as we can, and I think he's gonna pull through. That's what I told him, that's the first text I sent him, that you're gonna be fine, and I firmly belive that. A kid like that, something bad can't happen to him."
