SYRACUSE -- A North Country congressman is calling for an investigation into Syracuse's VA Hospital.

Congressman Bill Owens says the recent death of a man from Carthage is just the latest in a string of complaints about veterans' care. Mike DeCaprio, 63, died last month of complications from a blood disease. His loved ones say his condition was overlooked by doctors at the Syracuse VA Hospital, and the VA Clinic, in Watertown.

A spokesperson for the VA Hospital in Syracuse says DeCaprio's case was treated very seriously. An internal investigation is underway.

Owens has already reached out to the Veterans Affairs secretary to launch a federal investigation.
