SYRACUSE -- If your garbage still hasn't been picked up, you are not alone. People from Syracuse to Manlius woke up to find their trash still sitting at the edge of their driveways.
It turns out, Monday's huge snowstorm is causing a delay in getting the garbage collected. Syracuse DPW Commissioner Pete O'Connor tells CNY Central the storm kept crews from completing their routes on Monday. He says that had a trickle down effect, which meant a delay in Tuesday's trash collection. He doesn't expect to be fully caught up until Friday.
O'Connor tells us his crews are running five to eight routes behind the normal 18 routes they do per day. Bottom line, you may need to be patient if your garbage still hasn't been picked up. You should continue to put your trash on the curb on your regular garbage collection day.
