AURELIUS, CAYUGA CO. -- The Cayuga County Health Department reports that it has lifted the boil water order issued for the Town of Aurelius Water District #2.
This health department says theĀ order is being lifted because recent testing shows that there is no contamination in the distribution system.
The department asks that if anyone requests moreĀ information they can call the Town of Aurelius at 315-255-1894 or the Cayuga County Health Department at 315-253-1405.
Information can also be found on the Cayuga County website at www.cayugacounty.us/hhs.doh.
Original story from Tuesday:
The Cayuga County Health Department has issued a boil water order in the Town of Aurelius after a water main break.
The order affects people in Water District 2. This includes customers on Cranebrook Drive, Clark St. Road (west of and including Garropy's Mobile Home Park) and State Route 5 West to Limekiln Road (except Finger Lakes Crossing & Aspen Dental).
The water main break caused a loss of pressure in the distribution system. A loss in pressure means an increased chance that harmful microbes could enter the water supply.
Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, and food preparation until further notice.
The boil water order will not be lifted until testing can confirm the water is safe for drinking. Officials expect the order to be in place until at least Friday afternoon.
If you have any questions, call the Town of Aurelius at 255-1894 or the Cayuga County Health Department at 253-1405.
