SYRACUSE -- There will be an unusual sight in downtown Syracuse today.

Dozens of men will slip into a pair of women's high heel shoes. They will be participating in the "Walk a Mile in Her Shoes" event to kick off the annual White Ribbon campaign of Vera House.

The White Ribbon campaign is an attempt to raise awareness of sexual and physical violence against women. It also serves as a fundraiser for various Vera House programs.

The "Walk a Mile in Her Shoes" event is scheduled to kick off at noon at Clinton Square. After a brief program, the participants will walk in their high heels toward Armory Square and tie white ribbons on trees and lamp posts along the way.
