SYRACUSE -- If you head to the Civic Center in Syracuse this week, you will likely see more than 250 T-shirts on display. They're part of Vera House's Clothesline Project.
The exhibit was created in recognition of National Sexual Assault Awareness Month. Each shirt hung on the clothesline is created by someone whose life has been altered by rape, sexual assault, relationship violence, or other forms of sexual abuse.
"The t-shirts are kind of this loud project to not only bring awareness, but to highlight that people have survived," says Jodi DeAugustine, who is on the Vera House Board of Trustees.
The exhibit doesn't just include T-shirts. It also includes baby blankets, stuffed animals, and statistics about domestic violence and sexual abuse.
DeAugustine says she saw a steady stream of visitors to the exhibit Monday morning.
"I feel a lot of different emotions from the different pictures and descriptions given on the t-shirts," says Erik Mercado, who visited the exhibit. "I'm glad to see this."
At the exhibit, visitors can buy a white bracelet to support Vera House. The exhibit runs through April 7.
