ROME, ONEIDA CO. -- One of the dogs left outside a Camden home in frigid temperatures this past winter is looking to be adopted - again.

Nemo, the second dog rescued from outside an empty home in Camden in February - and later found to have a bullet inside him - was returned to the Rome Humane Society. The man who adopted him and paid all the veterinarians' bills, Mike Burth Sr. of Verona, returned him on Monday.

Burth says he loves the dog, but Nemo - who Burth had renamed "Max" - did not get along with another male dog in his home.

Burth is keeping Angel, the dog with the extremely frostbitten tail, which veterinarians were able to save.

Nemo is ready to be adopted again. Humane Society director Susan LeGrande says he gets along fine with most pets, including cats, and is fine with people.
They are guessing that Nemo is a full-grown, 3 to 4 year old, collie mix.

If you are interested in adopting Nemo or any of the shelter's other animals, you can reach the Humane Society of Rome at 315-336-7070 or visit www.humanesocietyrome.com/adopt.html.

The dogs' original owner, Donald Grass, had moved away from the Camden home and allegedly left the dogs behind. He is due in court next week to face charges of animal cruelty.
