As you may be aware, we are very “animal friendly” here at our CNY Central television stations. Many of us that you watch on TV have pets. I have two dogs and a cat of my own, not to mention the ever-popular Doppler the Weather Cat, the TV station 'mascot', if you will.
On a more personal note, nearly four years ago I started the Priscilla Mahar Animal Welfare Foundation, a non-profit foundation named after my Mom, who had just passed away and loved animals. Since that time we have put on several fundraisers with CNY Central and Syracuse Crunch hockey being heavily involved and supportive, and have handed out many thousands of dollars to needy Central New York welfare and rescue organizations.
Our anchor, Matt Mulcahy, and his wife Jamie are also heavily involved in helping our animal friends and they started their Shamrock Animal Fund a couple of years ago and have done great things helping individuals with veterinary bills.
Two different animal welfare organizations, both of us on air at CNY Central, and both of us having the same goal, help the animals!
Unfortunately, there are too many groups, organizations and individuals that need money, and not enough money to go around, so Matt and I are always looking for additional income for our organizations. The more income we have, the more money we can hand out.
A couple of days ago, CNY Central President & CEO Chris Geiger came up with the idea of making a substantial donation to both of our organizations IF we can help the CNY Central Facebook site to reach 15,000 “fans” by the end of May. That’s a challenge Matt and I readily accepted, and now we are asking YOU to help us, which in turn helps our animal friends.
It’s as simple as this: Go to the CNY Central Facebook site and click “like”. Click here for the link. That’s it!
Thanks in advance for helping us help friends in the animal world of Central New York.
