HERKIMER (AP) -- A 61-year-old bed and breakfast owner has been sentenced to 18 years in prison for raping a woman while she was drunk and passed out inside his Mohawk Valley business.

Isidoro Marra was sentenced Thursday in Herkimer County Court, where he was convicted in April of raping the woman on a couch in the lobby of Villa Isidoro, his B and B and restaurant in a stone mansion-style farmhouse near Richfield Springs, 60 miles southeast of Syracuse.

Prosecutors say he raped the woman in September 2009.

They had sought the maximum sentence of 25 years, while Marra's attorney argued for the minimum of five years.

Dozens of supporters were at the sentencing for Marra, who proclaimed his innocence.

Marra's lawyer says he'll appeal the conviction.
