Donated food will stay in area where its collected

It's billed as the biggest one-day food drive in the country.  On Saturday, the US Postal Service, nationwide, will do a food drive for the needy.

Maureen Marion, with the Postal Service in Central New York, says letter carriers will pick up non-perishable foods (no glass containers, please) as they do their regular Saturday mail deliveries.  If you don't have a mailbox, you can leave your donation near where your mail is dropped off.  Or, you can take your donation to a post office.

The foods collected stay in the specific geographic area where they're donated:  the Interreligious Food Consortium will handle donated foods in Syracuse through its pantry system, and specific towns and villages have their own distribution systems set up.    There's a website for more information.
