Brewerton man charged with assault after allegedly attacking group with club

BREWERTON --

A Brewerton man is facing several charges for allegedly assaulting several people.

It happened at the Bayshore North Apartments along the 9200 block of Brewerton Road around 7:40 p.m. on Sunday.

Police say 22-year-old Timothy Johnson assaulted a woman and two men. When police arrived on the scene, they found a woman lying on the ground, unable to stand due to a leg injury. Witnesses say Johnson smashed her in the leg with a club.

Police then found a man covered in blood with swelling and bruising on his face. The man old police Johnson had rear-ended his truck.

Another man told police he heard a loud crash and ran outside to find Johnson running towards him with a knife and a club. The man told police Johnson yelled at him to get on the ground.

The two injured victims were taken to the hospital by ambulance.

Police say they found Johnson holding a wooden club and a box cutter in his pocket. They also recovered a steak knife on the ground.

Johnson was taken into custody and charged with assault, menacing and criminal possession of a weapon. He was sent to the Onondaga County Justice Center on $1,000 cash bail. Further charges are pending.
