BOONVILLE, ONEIDA CO. -- A Lewis County man is under arrest after police say he raped a young girl.

According to State Police, Troopers arrested 24-year-old Brian Hoffman of Sweeney Road in Grieg last Wednesday and charged him with one count of felony third degree rape. Police allege Hoffman had sex with a girl under the age of 17 in the Town of Boonville.

Hoffman was arraigned in Boonville Town Court and sent to the Oneida County Jail in lieu of $15,000 bail. Police say an Oneida County Child Advocacy Center investigation led to the arrest.
