The wheels were turning at Verona Beach State Park today as cyclists biked to find a cure for diabetes.

Over 500 riders took part in the 20th annual Verona Beach Tour de Cure. The annual event raises money for diabetes research.

In order to participate in the ride, every cyclist must raise a minimum of $150. Organizers say as of Sunday afternoon, they have raised approximately $175,000, and they're still counting.

Over 24 million people suffer from diabetes in the US.
