LIVERPOOL -- Update, 3:10pm:

A truck driver says he didn't know he hit the railroad bridge on the Onondaga Lake Parkway. Now he's being ticketed.

Onondaga County Sheriff's say Juan Martinez, 51, of Syracuse, was driving his Goya Foods tractor-trailer westbound late Friday morning when he hit the bridge. Sheriff's say he continued traveling into the Village of Liverpool, where he was then pulled over by a police officer.

Part of the truck's roof was ripped off, and debris littered the roadway, forcing authorities to shutdown part of State Route 370.

Martinez was ticketed for the leaving the scene of a property damage accident, disobeying a traffic control device, and operating an over-height vehicle.

Sheriff's say no one was hurt.

The State DOT has already suggested banning commercial vehicles from traveling on the parkway to hopefully put an end to the problem of trucks hitting the bridge.

Original story:

Traffic on the Onondaga Lake Parkway has been slowed after a truck struck the railroad bridge late Friday morning.

The State Department of Transportation says the right westbound lane of the parkway (State Route 370) was closed around 11:30 a.m due to another accident at the CSX railroad bridge.

The DOT says a truck scraped the bridge, and left behind metal as it drove from Syracuse to Liverpool.

Police say the lane could remain closed until after 1:00 p.m.
