James Froio wants to rebuild trust in Jordan Elbridge community
Monday night, the new Jordan Elbridge Superintendent James Froio was all ears, as concerned parents and community members spoke with him for the first time during a "listening session" he hosted.
Froio is stepping into a self-described whirlwind. JE school officials are fighting legal battles, a number of administrators have been suspended, fired, or have stepped down and now the 12 months of brewing controversy has been capped off with an FBI investigation into the district.
"I think it's a fiasco," said Jim Young. "Like many parents, we think we have the guy that can turn this whole thing around."
"It absolutely has to be a fresh start," said Shirley Drummond.
Froio says his top goal entering this school year is to restore trust within the community and increase transparency. "I have to do that," he said. "It's the foundation of everything and right now that foundation is pretty crumbled so that's my singular goal for the year, I'm going to take everything else very slow."
"I think it's a very big step for him to have a listening session and a couple of them. It's a great opportunity for the community come out to talk to him and get to know him and start forward," said parent Mary Jo Wick.
The district's school board will also have some new faces, 3 new people will serve on the board.
