LIVERPOOL -- If you love animals like I do, then you’ll want to attend the second annual Canine Carnival at the Wegmans Good Dog Park in Liverpool Saturday August 6th from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Admission is free, rain or shine. Be sure to bring your pets, but have them on a leash.
Our inaugural Canine Carnival last year brought nearly 3,000 people out to enjoy the festivities, music, fun, food etc., but the best news was to have more than 100 dogs finding good homes.
It will be even bigger and better this year with additional vendors of animal products and even more rescue organizations. You won’t believe the variety of other fun things we’ll have going on. Music, a wide variety of food and drinks, games, tons of prizes, an auction, face painting, balloons, VIP and celebrity dog walkers and a whole lot more! Wegmans is the primary sponsor for our event and CNYcentral is our media sponsor, and I sure appreciate everything both companies have done. They obviously both really care about central and are heavily involved in the community.
PARKING: You may park almost anywhere within Long Branch Park, even down into the Willow Bay lot as the county will have both trams running continuously from all lots up to the Good Dog Park, available for both people and pets!
In case you aren’t aware, I began this non-profit animal welfare organization with the help of Lisa Chelenza (of TK-99 radio and Pet Pointers on YNN) and a few other great animal loving people about four years ago after my mother passed away at the age of 85. She loved animals, as do I, so I wanted to establish an umbrella-type foundation which could raise money and distribute funds to a wide variety of people and organizations that have good intentions in helping our animal friends. To date, nearly $15,000 has been donated to animal welfare and rescue organizations in Central New York.

So be sure to bring your pets, check out Wegmans Good Dog Park, play some games, have some great food, maybe win some prizes and say hi to the pets for adoption. Yes, the BIGGEST animal welfare event in Central New York! Hope to see you there.
