DEWITT -- DeWitt Police say a one-year-old child was taken by his non-custodial father from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on July 7th.
39-year-old Radford Pope was arrested Wednesday night. DeWitt Police were investigating a suspicious person complaint when they found Pope's vehicle at a hotel near Carrier Circle. Officers were advised that Pope was wanted for kidnapping by an alert received by a license plate reader on a patrol car. Pope and the child were found inside the vehicle and were taken into custody without incident.
Paramedics took a look at the child, who was determined to be in good health. He's now with Onondaga County Child Protective Services.
Pope was arraigned on charges from the State of Pennsylvania of Kidnapping, Interference with Custody of Children and Concealment of the Whereabouts of a Child.
Pope is now being held at the Onondaga County Justice Center without bail, pending an extradition hearing.
