It starts with a farm gala on Sunday, lots of food spotlighting the Taste of the County through the week, and an open house farm tour next Saturday.

The fourth annual Buy Local Week shows off Madison County Agriculture with farms and restaurants showcasing the diversity of food products that come from right nearby.

Jim Walter, with Madison County Tourism, says the event is growing because more producers want to be involved. The Sunday (July 17th) kickoff is at Canastota's Monanfran Farm, 2 - 6pm and features local food and drink, wagon rides and live bluegrass music.   Taste of the County features local restaurants showcasing food from local farms. And, Open Farm Day, next Saturday 10am - 4pm, includes samples, rides and farm tours, and animal interaction.  It runs 10am - 4pm with 'passports' (directions) available at area Price Choppers or at Madison County Agriculture's website
