SYRACUSE -- An Onondaga Central School District bus driver admitted having a sexual relationship with a student.

Shaun A. Rogers, 24, of Central Square, pleaded guilty in New York State Supreme Court Monday to a charge of felony criminal sex act. Investigators say Rogers had inappropriate contact with an underage child on his bus during school hours in January. Prosecutors say the incidents took place while the child waited for another bus for a ride home from school.

When Rogers was arrested in March, the Onondaga Central School District sent a letter home to parents notifying them of what happened.

As part of his plea agreement, Rogers faces 14 years in state prison when he is sentenced by Judge John Brunetti on August 8th. Do you think the sentence is appropriate? Leave a comment below to share your thoughts.

Rogers will also be subject to post-release parole and will have to register as a sex offender. He could have faced up to 25 years in prison had he been convicted at trial.

Rogers had worked for the district since 2006.
